Zermatt

Car-free, snow-sure and framed by the most recognisable mountain on earth — electric taxis, horse-drawn sleighs and skiing that crosses into Italy for lunch.

When to go

Ski season late November to early May, plus year-round glacier skiing at Matterhorn Glacier Paradise. Summer brings serious hiking and the Zermatt Marathon in July.

Getting there

Zurich or Geneva 3h30 by car to Täsch, then the shuttle train — Zermatt is car-free. Helicopter transfers land directly in the village.

What we arrange

Hotels and chalets, private transfers and helicopters, restaurant reservations, guides, events and everything in between — on one WhatsApp thread.

Things to do

Beyond the obvious.

01

Gornergrat railway at sunrise

Europe's highest open-air cog railway to 3,089m, with the Matterhorn lit pink on an early run.

02

Ski to Cervinia for lunch

Cross the ridge into Italy for pasta and espresso, then ski back into Switzerland before the last lift.

03

Matterhorn Glacier Paradise

The highest cable car in Europe at 3,883m, with a glacier palace carved into the ice.

04

Helicopter flight around the Matterhorn

A circuit of the peak and the Monte Rosa massif — twenty minutes that justify the whole trip.

Insider note

Book Chez Vrony and Zum See before you book the hotel. Both are small, both are institutions, and in high season they fill a month out.
