Masai Mara

The greatest wildlife spectacle on earth — big cats on open savannah, and between July and October, a million wildebeest crossing the Mara River.

When to go

The Great Migration river crossings run roughly July to October. January to March is green season with excellent big-cat viewing and newborn game. April and May are the wettest months.

Getting there

Nairobi, then a 45-minute light-aircraft flight to the Mara airstrips — the standard and most scenic approach. Private charters available throughout.

What we arrange

Hotels and chalets, private transfers and helicopters, restaurant reservations, guides, events and everything in between — on one WhatsApp thread.

Things to do

Beyond the obvious.

01

Great Migration river crossings

Positioning at the Mara River from July to October for the crossings — chaotic, brutal and unforgettable.

02

Balloon safari at dawn

An hour over the plains at first light, landing to a champagne breakfast on the grass.

03

Private conservancy game drives

Staying in a conservancy rather than the reserve means off-road access, night drives and no other vehicles at a sighting.

04

Maasai community visit

Time with a Maasai family arranged properly through the conservancy, rather than a staged roadside performance.

Insider note

Stay in a private conservancy, not the national reserve. You pay more, but you get night drives, off-road tracking and sightings without twenty other Land Cruisers.
