Val d'Isère

Europe's most reliable snow and its most British ski crowd — 300km of linked terrain with Tignes, and a village that has quietly gone gastronomic.

When to go

One of the longest seasons in the Alps, late November to early May, with glacier skiing at Pissaillas. February half-term is at capacity; January and late March are calmer.

Getting there

Geneva 3h or Lyon 3h by private chauffeur; Chambéry 2h. Courchevel Altiport is the nearest for private aircraft, then a 90-minute transfer.

What we arrange

Hotels and chalets, private transfers and helicopters, restaurant reservations, guides, events and everything in between — on one WhatsApp thread.

Where to eat

Tables worth planning a day around.

L'Atelier d'Edmond

Benoît Vidal's two-star chalet up in Le Fornet — the finest table in the valley, and worth the taxi.

2 Michelin stars

La Table de l'Ours

Antoine Gras's starred dining room at Les Barmes, precise alpine cooking with a serious cellar.

1 Michelin star

La Fruitière

Built into a working dairy above the resort at La Folie Douce — lunch, then the notorious afternoon cabaret downstairs.

Things to do

Beyond the obvious.

01

Espace Killy with a private instructor

300km linked with Tignes and lift access above 3,000m — a guide finds the snow whatever the conditions.

02

Glacier skiing at Pissaillas

Skiing well into May, and often reopening in autumn — the reason Val d'Isère's season outlasts its rivals.

03

La Folie Douce

The Alps' most famous mountain-top afternoon party, finishing with a ski down in whatever state you manage.

04

Ice driving on the Col de l'Iseran

Supercar handling sessions on a prepared ice circuit, arranged privately through the resort.

Insider note

Stay in Le Fornet or La Daille rather than the centre if you want quiet — both are lift-linked, and the village centre in half-term is genuinely hectic.
