Okavango Delta

A river that never reaches the sea, flooding the Kalahari into a maze of channels and islands — Africa's most exclusive safari, with more animals than people by an extraordinary margin.

When to go

Floodwaters peak June to September, the best game viewing and the classic mokoro season. November to March is green season — fewer guests, dramatic skies, excellent birdlife.

Getting there

Maun or Kasane, then a light-aircraft transfer of 15–40 minutes to the camp airstrip. There are no roads to most camps.

What we arrange

Hotels and chalets, private transfers and helicopters, restaurant reservations, guides, events and everything in between — on one WhatsApp thread.

Where to stay

The three we would book first.

Every hotel here is one we know personally. Tell us your dates and we will come back with availability, the right room category and any partner benefits that apply.

Things to do

Beyond the obvious.

01

Mokoro through the channels

Poled through papyrus in a dugout canoe at water level — silent, and the definitive Okavango experience.

02

Big-cat tracking on Chief's Island

Lion, leopard and wild dog at some of the highest densities on the continent, with expert Motswana guides.

03

Helicopter over the delta

Doors-off flights over the channels and islands, the only way to comprehend the scale of the flood.

04

Walking safari

On foot with an armed guide, learning tracks and plants — the pace at which the bush actually makes sense.

Insider note

Botswana runs a deliberate low-volume, high-value tourism policy, which is why the delta stays empty and expensive. Combine a water camp with a land camp — they are entirely different experiences.
