Marbella

Puerto Banus yachts, Sierra Blanca villas and a whitewashed old town -- the Costa del Sol's grown-up answer to the Riviera, with better golf and longer summers.

When to go

May to October for beach and yacht season; golf and old-town visits are pleasant nearly year-round given Marbella's mild winters.

Getting there

Málaga airport 45 minutes by private chauffeur; Gibraltar airport is an alternative for smaller private aircraft.

What we arrange

Hotels and chalets, private transfers and helicopters, restaurant reservations, guides, events and everything in between — on one WhatsApp thread.

Where to stay

The three we would book first.

Every hotel here is one we know personally. Tell us your dates and we will come back with availability, the right room category and any partner benefits that apply.

Things to do

Beyond the obvious.

01

Puerto Banus yacht browsing and dinner

An evening walk along the marina's superyacht row, followed by dinner at one of the port's terrace restaurants.

02

Golf at Valderrama or Finca Cortesin

The Costa del Sol's championship courses, both within an hour of Marbella and bookable with a private caddie.

03

Old town and Orange Square

Marbella's whitewashed casco antiguo, quieter and more authentic than the beach-club strip, for evening tapas.

04

Day trip to Ronda

The clifftop town an hour inland, split by a dramatic gorge -- one of Andalusia's most striking day trips.

Insider note

Base yourself on the Golden Mile for beach-club culture, or up in the Sierra Blanca hills for privacy and a golf-course view instead of a beach-towel one.
