Mauritius

A lagoon-ringed island with mountains in the middle — the Indian Ocean at its most versatile, where a beach week can include golf, hiking, kitesurfing and genuinely good Creole cooking.

When to go

Year-round. May to December is drier and cooler; January to March is hot with occasional cyclones. July and August bring the best kitesurfing winds at Le Morne.

Getting there

Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International, around 12 hours from London direct or via the Gulf. Transfers of 45–75 minutes to most resorts; helicopter transfers available.

What we arrange

Hotels and chalets, private transfers and helicopters, restaurant reservations, guides, events and everything in between — on one WhatsApp thread.

Things to do

Beyond the obvious.

01

Île aux Cerfs

The east-coast island of white sand and turquoise shallows, with a Bernhard Langer golf course and a private-boat approach.

02

Black River Gorges and Chamarel

The island's rainforest interior, the seven-coloured earths and a waterfall, with rum tasting at Rhumerie de Chamarel.

03

Kitesurfing at Le Morne

The lagoon beneath the UNESCO-listed basalt monolith — among the world's best conditions from June to September.

04

Deep-sea fishing off the west coast

Marlin and tuna grounds a short run from Black River, on a skippered boat with tackle provided.

Insider note

Choose your coast deliberately: the east is calm and best for swimming, the west for sunsets and fishing, the south wild and dramatic, the north busiest. They feel like different islands.
