Mallorca

The Balearics' grown-up island -- Deià's artist-colony cliffs, Palma's old town and superyacht marina, and far more coastline than Ibiza to disappear into.

When to go

May to October; June and September are the sweet spot. Palma's old town and inland villages are pleasant nearly year-round.

Getting there

Palma airport receives private jets directly; 15-45 minutes by chauffeur depending on which coast.

What we arrange

Hotels and chalets, private transfers and helicopters, restaurant reservations, guides, events and everything in between — on one WhatsApp thread.

Where to stay

The three we would book first.

Every hotel here is one we know personally. Tell us your dates and we will come back with availability, the right room category and any partner benefits that apply.

Where to eat

Tables worth planning a day around.

El Olivo, Belmond La Residencia

A converted olive press with terrace dining over the Tramuntana hills -- Mediterranean fine dining in Deià.

Insider table

Marc Fosh

Palma old town's Michelin-starred kitchen, in a boutique hotel courtyard near the cathedral.

1 Michelin star

Ca'n Joan de S'Aigo

Palma's 1700 chocolatería -- ensaïmadas and almond ice cream a few steps from the cathedral, an institution, not a trend.

Things to do

Beyond the obvious.

01

Superyacht marina and old town, Palma

A walk through Palma's Gothic old town and cathedral, finishing at the marina's superyacht row for dinner.

02

Deià and the Tramuntana coast road

The UNESCO-listed mountain road linking Valldemossa, Deià and Sóller, with stops at cliffside coves along the way.

03

Private sailing to the south coast calas

A day charter to the hidden turquoise coves of Mallorca's south and east coasts, quieter than Ibiza's equivalents.

04

Sóller vintage train and tram

The 1912 wooden train from Palma through the mountains to Sóller, then the tram down to the port.

Insider note

Mallorca rewards a driver and a week, not a villa and a weekend -- the island is genuinely large, and the best parts are an hour from each other.
