The Maldives

Twelve hundred islands and not a single one you have to share -- overwater villas, house reef diving and a silence no city break can match.

When to go

November to April is the dry season with the calmest seas; May to October brings more rain but excellent surf and lower rates. Year-round warm water diving.

Getting there

Velana International (Malé), then a seaplane or speedboat transfer arranged by your resort -- 20 minutes to 1h30 depending on the atoll.

What we arrange

Hotels and chalets, private transfers and helicopters, restaurant reservations, guides, events and everything in between — on one WhatsApp thread.

Where to stay

The three we would book first.

Every hotel here is one we know personally. Tell us your dates and we will come back with availability, the right room category and any partner benefits that apply.

Soneva Fushi

Baa Atoll · Barefoot luxury pioneer

The original barefoot-luxury private island -- no shoes required anywhere, an observatory, and villas hidden in jungle above the beach.

A sprawling, palm-fringed island with twelve private beaches and the Maldives' most talked-about overwater villas.

Cheval Blanc Randheli

Noonu Atoll · LVMH

Things to do

Beyond the obvious.

01

Manta ray night snorkel

A guided night snorkel with manta rays feeding on plankton in the shallows -- seasonal but spectacular in Baa Atoll.

02

Private sandbank picnic

A boat transfer to an uninhabited sandbank for a private lunch, just you and the reef.

03

Diving in a UNESCO biosphere reserve

Baa Atoll's protected reefs are among the Indian Ocean's richest diving, with resort-arranged dive masters.

04

Overwater spa treatment

Treatments in glass-floored overwater pavilions with the reef visible below -- standard across most high-end resorts.

Insider note

Fly seaplane, not speedboat, if you can -- the aerial view of the atolls on arrival is worth the extra cost on its own.
